Spock Mix

04May08

Iam Spock, I am black. I am 365 blocks times 4 a million to the top. Triangular power perifier mid from the center. I was constructed 200.000 years ago. My devine speech is like the tension of two tectonic plates. And if it’s matter it must have weight. … So souls are able to connect. Bio-electric creating a garment of light. War of the Worlds turned into a cosmic fight. … I speak no violence. Words symbolizing science, amplifying the quiet force. A pure thought as a silent source. Continue reading ‘Spock Mix’

This mix starts out in a citadel like mansion high atop the city’s skyline where we first enjoy a cinematic view over the things to come, before we tumble out the front door to slither down Silicon Valley Boulevard in an Assegai glider passing by blocks and blocks of monumentally sized retro beats. A mix like a perfect ride Wipeout level, so aware of the past only the piano parts are missing. Continue reading ‘Arcade Mansion Mix’

Goldie’s ‘Inner City Life’ is the literal golden frame of this mix by appearing in three very different shapes at the beginning the middle and the end of this mix. Connected by a skyline of darkly tinted beats, Public Enemy’s ‘Bring the Noise’ and Opus III’s angel like vocals beam above the scape like parlor screens in the night sky. Absolution Mix

14Jun06

absolutionA moody mix starting out in a down beat valley of an old accustic depeche mode track blended with an edgy boards of canada beat. The mix then elevates over an oddly pitched, popish sprinkle of the pussy cat dolls to a wide plane of the finest hospitalized upbeat drum&bass tracks.

pain drencherDecorated with tons of sci-fi samples of some of my favorite mangas this mix starts out with a chilled moody set of tracks blendig over into the all might midnight track which nicely flings hand in hand with Beyoncé’s ‘wishing upon a star’. ‘Dip it low’ with some Eimsbush melts ontop of a proper mark roller until it gets deep and moody again on a couple of 720* tracks.

pain drencherFrom the deepth of a gel tube this mix seems to bubble up all over a bunch of Teebee and Roni Size beats until it joins the greater stream of mellow, uptempo drum&bass. We pass by some Sean Paul drum&bass mixes until we finally drown into the breathtaking Kimiko Itoh’s “Follow Me” (Ghost in the Shell - Innocence OST) twisted on a tuned down full cycle break.

Ok, the intro might be a bit pathetic, but Photek’s words hit a point and simply fit like two pieces of lego on this drugged up vocal track I found on one of those - I confess - Cafe del Mar CDs of mine. I know it ain’t the sickest this mix has seen as you will listen to AIR on drum&bass and an accoustic Apocalyptica remix of the Metallica classic “Nothing else Matters” somewhere buried in the middle. And there is more, Snoop “Gin and Juice”, LL Cool J “Doin it” and Sean Paul Remixes on some bad drum&bass beats. Continue reading ‘Powder Dish Mix’

Core Mix

18Jul03

Seal gives a very smooth and relaxed intro to this mix that afterwards takes off for a world tour visiting London, Brazil and LA to land in night shaded Vienna for some downtempo wisdom by the Waxolusionists. We get connection flights to New Jersey to visit NAS and Lauryn Hill for some drum&bass world ruling, skip to Erykah Badu’s love of her life (and ours I guess), stop by in Tokyo, and land rock hard in Stone Age with the Wu. Continue reading ‘Core Mix’

pain drencherFavorite mix of mine. Intros the marvelouse Lamb vocals of ‘Gabriel’ blending over in a minimal tech stepper carpet weaved into Dillinja’s marvelouse ‘Cybotron’ with the Fugees’ ‘Ready or not’ melting on top like cheese. The ‘Cybotron’ vocals sustain and dither over into a (very) early Aquasky track. Everthing slows down in the middle and opens up a drawer of smooth downbeat tracks by Everything but the Girl, Goldie and Morecheeba. It takes you way further via a couple of JayZ HipHop tunes drilled on edgy drum&bass breaks before it lands in Brazilian jungle scapes. Continue reading ‘Pain drencher Mix’

turning sinisterInspired by this wonderful vocal track shortly past the middle resembling the timbre of Mrs. Winehouse, this mix seems to literally call itself ‘turning sinister mix’. Starting off all moody with a cite of Massive Attack’s weather hymn, it dives into mild dub step sprinkled porn style and arrives at a Madonna/Massive Attack liaison that is skewed on a downsampled rolling Teebee break, to leave you behind in a 2step final.
